Review: The Laurus, a Luxury Collection Resort, Singapore

We just returned from a three-day, two-night stay at The Laurus in Sentosa. This is Singapore’s first Luxury Collection property, and we had looked forward to visiting ever since it opened in 2025!

As Marriott Bonvoy loyalists, we are always on the lookout for new hotel and resort openings in Singapore. The Laurus, a Luxury Collection Resort, is now one of six properties at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS).

Our stay coincided with Resorts World Sentosa’s Festival of Thrills event. Its main highlight is the annual Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Singapore.

Check-in

The Laurus has a dedicated check-in lounge in the lobby. Instead of checking in at a conventional front desk, you can sit down in a private and comfortable space. The staff completes the formalities there.

If you are driving, there is a dedicated elevator connecting the car park directly to the check-in lobby. This made our arrival much easier. We did not have to carry our luggage through the rest of the property before reaching reception.

Every day from 3pm to 3:30pm, the hotel puts out an Epicurean food selection in the lobby. The selection includes local treats such as nine-layer cake. It is a small touch, but it gives guests something to enjoy around the usual check-in time.

Hotel guests also receive complimentary driving passes for the rest of Sentosa. Remember to scan the QR code at the check-in lobby. This prevents charges when driving around the island.

Booking

The Laurus currently offers an Epicurean package that includes S$500 to spend around Resorts World Sentosa. At the time of writing, the package costs about US$230, or approximately S$290, more than the base room rate.

This can offer significant savings if you already plan to dine or spend money around the resort. The package costs less than the resort credit it includes. You can therefore get more value if you were going to incur those expenses anyway.

The Laurus is also close to the attractions around Resorts World Sentosa. This makes it particularly convenient if you plan to spend a few days exploring the resort. You can return to your room easily instead of travelling from another part of Singapore.

Room

We stayed in a Deluxe King Suite. The Laurus is an all-suite hotel, so even its standard accommodation gives you much more space than a conventional hotel room.

Our suite was huge and divided into four distinct sections. From the entrance, a corridor leads into the living area. It has a dining table and a lounge sofa. This gave us a proper space to eat or relax outside the bedroom. During our stay, I spent a lot of time on the sofa just chilling and watching television.

The living area connects to the bedroom, which has a king-sized bed and a second television. Having a television in both spaces means one person can use the living room while the other rests in the bedroom.

The mini bar is very well stocked and all the items in the mini bar are complimentary.

You can control all the motorised curtains using a switch beside the bed. This is especially useful in a large suite. You do not need to walk around the room to close every curtain at night. Our room faced the cable car route between HarbourFront and Sentosa, giving us a clear view of the cable cars passing by.

The bedroom connects to a gigantic bathroom with a freestanding bathtub. The separate shower and toilet areas make the bathroom more practical when two people are getting ready together.

The bathroom amenities are from Byredo, one of our favourite luxury fragrance brands. This small detail made the bathroom feel more luxurious and distinctive than one stocked with generic hotel toiletries.

A walk-in wardrobe connects the bathroom back to the entrance, completing the suite’s layout. The most practical part of the wardrobe is the two separate luggage areas. Each area can hold a large suitcase. Both guests can unpack without leaving one suitcase open on the floor.

We really appreciated this design because luggage space is one of our biggest pain points when travelling. Many hotel rooms provide only one luggage rack for two guests. This forces us to place the second suitcase on the ground. The Laurus solves that problem with a simple but very useful layout.

Breakfast

Daily buffet breakfast is held at The Laurus Table. Platinum Elite members and above get daily buffet breakfast for free.

The breakfast selection is modest, but the quality is very high. The hotel offers a smaller spread instead of an enormous buffet with many average dishes. The items we tried were consistently good.

There is a local Asian section, and its selection changes each day. This adds variety during a multi-night stay, so you do not have to eat the same dishes every morning.

There is also an egg station where you can request a customised omelette or sunny-side-up eggs. A separate menu is available if you prefer to order your eggs rather than choose from the buffet.

I really enjoyed breakfast here. The overall selection may not be the largest. However, the quality mattered more to me than the number of dishes available.

Amenities

Fitness Centre

The fitness centre is one large open space, with the machines and weights arranged around its perimeter. The open layout makes the gym feel spacious and keeps the central area clear.

The selection of weight machines is fairly basic. Guests looking for many specialised machines may find it limited. However, there is a good range of free weights, which should be enough for most guests to put together a proper workout.

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool sits beside a sensory garden and several courtyards. These landscaped areas are pleasant to walk around. They make the pool feel more like a resort than a standalone hotel facility.

The pool itself is quite large, with plenty of sun beds around it. However, there is only one pool, with no separate sections for adults and children. This is worth keeping in mind if you want a quiet adults-only pool or a dedicated children’s area.

There are also several private pavilions that guests can use for their own events.

Together with the gardens, courtyards and pavilions, the pool area has a very laid-back resort atmosphere. It feels like somewhere you can spend a few hours relaxing rather than simply taking a quick swim.

Final Thoughts

Our stay at The Laurus was both enjoyable and luxurious. We have stayed in other Luxury Collection resorts before, and having 1 so near our home makes us really happy.

The all-suite concept is a major reason for that. Our suite was huge but also thoughtfully designed. It had separate living and sleeping areas, plus wardrobe space for two large suitcases. Small details such as the motorised curtains and Byredo amenities also helped the room feel genuinely luxurious rather than simply large.

The rest of the experience was equally polished. We enjoyed the private check-in lounge, the high-quality breakfast and the relaxed atmosphere around the swimming pool and gardens. Its location within Resorts World Sentosa is another major advantage, especially if you plan to spend most of your stay visiting the nearby attractions.

There are a few minor limitations. The fitness centre has a fairly basic selection of machines, while the hotel has only one swimming pool for both adults and children. However, these did not significantly affect our stay.

Overall, The Laurus combines space and a relaxed resort atmosphere with a convenient location. The main Resorts World Sentosa attractions are nearby. Its spacious suites and central location are its strongest selling points, especially if you plan to spend most of your stay around the resort.
