Recently, we flew Qatar Airways’ renowned Q Suite for the first time on a journey from Doha to Denpasar, Bali. It was an exceptional experience right from the start. The suites feel incredibly spacious, offering a remarkable level of privacy even when the sliding doors are left open.
Qatar Airways first commissioned these game-changing seats in February 2018 as the global launch customer for the Airbus A350-1000. Collins Aerospace (formerly B/E Aerospace) manufactured the Q Suite in collaboration with PriestmanGoode, creating the first-ever business class cabin to offer sliding doors for complete privacy
We were originally scheduled to experience the Q Suite on our flight from Kuala Lumpur to Amman. Unfortunately, a last-minute aircraft swap due to operational changes meant we were shifted to a different configuration. This is a relatively common occurrence with Qatar Airways, so we were naturally apprehensive about our next leg.
On our return journey from Amman to Denpasar, we were delighted to find that the QSuite was operating on the Doha to Denpasar route as well. Leading up to the flight, we kept our fingers crossed that history wouldn’t repeat itself. Fortunately, the plane swap never happened, and we finally stepped into the cabin we had been waiting for.
Booking
To increase our chances of redemption (and also to attend a wedding), we changed our destination from Singapore to Denpasar.
For our November 2025 flight, we secured our seats back in June for 70,000 Qatar Avios plus S$361.90 in taxes and fees. We were surprised to snag two seats at this rate, especially considering the timing.
Since we booked our flights using separate Qatar Privilege Club accounts, our tickets were issued individually. As a result, we couldn’t select the “Couple Honeymoon” seats online, as these are typically restricted to passengers on the same booking.
To resolve this, we called Qatar’s customer hotline. The process was incredibly seamless, and the agent quickly linked our preferences and secured the middle seats for us.
HSBC and Citibank credit cards both transfer over to Qatar Avios directly.
Airport Lounge Access
As we flew on Qatar Regional First Class from Amman to Doha before our Q Suite flight, we had access to the Al Safwa First Class Lounge in Doha Airport.
Otherwise, business class passengers will have access to the Al Mourjan Lounge instead. We’ll have separate reviews for all these lounges coming soon!
Seat Map
The A350-1000 we flew features a specific sub-fleet configuration with 24 QSuites. Unlike the higher-density layouts that spread business class across two sections, this version houses all suites in a single, spacious cabin between Doors 1 and 2. The 1-2-1 configuration ensures that every passenger has direct aisle access.

The layout is unique due to its alternating forward and rear-facing seats. For example, window seats (A & K) face rearward and are positioned closer to the window for better views and enhanced privacy. In contrast, seats B & J face forward and are situated closer to the aisle.
Seats
The QSuite is famous for its versatility. For instance, in the center section, the “Odd” numbered seats (E & F) are rear-facing. You can convert these into a double bed that’s perfect for couples.

Furthermore, groups of four can even open the panels between the center suites to form a “Quad” social space. Qatar marketed these for in-flight business meetings or presentations.

We selected the middle couple seats which face the rear of the plane. Admittedly, it was a little weird during takeoff, but we quickly got used to it. You don’t really feel the backward motion once the plane reaches cruising altitude.

If you’re traveling alone there are individual seats located by the windows. With the fully enclosed doors you will have full isolation and privacy throughout the flight.

The QSuite seat itself is generously proportioned, featuring a width of 21.5 inches that converts into a 79-inch (approximately 2-meter) fully flat bed. The sliding door is undoubtedly the star feature. Once closed, the 52-inch high walls create a private cocoon, making it easy to forget you’re on a plane shared with others.

After settling in, the cabin crew introduced themselves and provided a thorough walkthrough of the seat functions, ensuring we knew how to maximize the features of our suite.
Lay down seats
When you are ready to sleep, the crew will lovingly help you turn down the bed. They are very proactive in doing so.

We were glad we had the chance to try out the “Honeymoon Seats” on QSuite. It’s a lot more intimate than we imagined, and definitely feels less isolating than the usual business class beds.
Because of the combined bed space, the sleeping area also felt a lot more spacious than just single beds.
Accessories
Each passenger was given a Diptyque amenities kit. It felt very premium and covered all the essentials needed to keep your flight comfortable.

In addition, since this was a medium haul flight, we were also given a set of pajamas and slippers. We got the newly issued Qatar F1 collaboration pyjamas which was just launched a couple of days before our flight.

The pajamas was very comfortable and as usual we were able to keep it after the flight.
In-flight Entertainment
Each suite is equipped with a massive 21.5-inch high-definition touchscreen and a responsive remote control. The display quality is outstanding, ranking as one of the best entertainment systems I’ve experienced in flight.

One of the highlights of our flight was the Starlink connectivity. Qatar Airways has already equipped its entire Boeing 777 fleet with Starlink and is rapidly rolling it out across the A350 fleet, with completion expected in 2026.
On our flight, the speeds were impressively fast, though we did encounter a few brief outages when flying over regions with specific regulatory restrictions.

However, there were still periods of time when the internet cut out completely. This happened especially when we flew over regions where regulations prohibit Starlink.
Bathroom
The Business Class cabin typically offers three spacious lavatories. While they provide plenty of room, having only three for the entire cabin can lead to a bit of a wait during peak times, such as immediately after meal services.

That said, the crew is incredibly diligent, cleaning the lavatory after almost every use. It consistently felt fresh, dry, and well-stocked with Diptyque amenities.
Meal Service
Meal service started about 30 minutes into the flight.
For my main course, I ordered the sour vegetable soup and the Thai red curry. Surprisingly, the sour vegetable soup was very, very flavorful. In fact, I devoured the entire bowl within minutes.

Finally, about 2 hours before landing, the crew started serving breakfast.

Service Quality
The service provided on board was impeccable. The staff were all very attentive and patient.

Right after boarding, they immediately serve us welcome drinks and we got the iconic Lemon Mint drink.
During the long flight, they also constantly checked in on us to make sure that we got everything we need. When we needed something such as water or snacks, they got it to our seats immediately.
In addition, the service crew on the flight even bought us a small celebratory cake after hearing that it was our anniversary trip. Qatar does not have this policy, so it was a really nice gesture by the service crew.
