We were in Upstate New York for a quick weekend getaway from the city. The Adirondacks stood out to us as it was reasonably remote yet not too far away.
Even within the Adirondacks, there were many towns and places to choose from! We settled on Lake George and Lake Placid as they were near the trail we were going to hike at.
The village of Lake Placid was initially founded for iron ore operations. Over the next century, it has seen itself host multiple Winter Olympic games. The entire village sits right by the mouth of the huge lake.

We decided to go with the Lake House at High Peaks Resort for our stay in the village. We made the booking through Agoda and it costs us US$158 (with taxes) per night.
Check in
We checked into the hotel at 9 pm as we were hiking for the entire day. There were no working staff in the hotel at that time to check us in. Upon reaching the doors of the hotel, we saw a sign which directed us to check-in at High Peaks Resort across the road.
Room
We booked the 2 Queens-bed room for our party of 3. The room was big enough to fit us and we all had a corner to ourselves.

The room came with a large 42” TV. Unfortunately, there were no built-in streaming services. If you’re thinking of playing your favourite Netflix shows here, remember to bring along your computer and an HDMI cable.

A standard amongst US hotels, the Keurig coffee machine. The Lake House hotel generously provided 4 Green Mountain coffee capsules.

Bathroom
The bathroom features a distinctly different decor compared to the rest of the room. You’ll be teleported to a modern white-tiled bathroom from a rustic wooden bedroom.

The room comes with Lake House’s own brand of bath amenities.

There are plenty of clean towels for all guests of the hotel, so you don’t have to worry about bringing your own thick towels.

Lobby / Common Area
The main highlight of the hotel has to be its lobby area. It has towering floor to ceiling windows which gives its guests panoramic views of the lake.

The lobby had board games and even a pool table for guests to enjoy. If you’re spending a good amount of time in Lake Placid with a group of friends, we’d highly recommend this hotel.

The indoor swimming pool is located at the basement level of the hotel. We, unfortunately, did not get to take a dip in it as we forgot our swimming attire.

Service
It was hard for us to give any comments about the service as we didn’t get a chance to interact much with the staff. The only chance we had was during check-in which was an amazing experience.
Even checking out didn’t require any interaction as we were told to simply leave the keys in the room when we leave.
Location
The location of Lake House at High Peaks Resort was its biggest selling point. It is located right at the entrance of Main Street, where the action’s at for Lake Placid Town.
We could walk to the street from our room within 10 minutes. You don’t even have to worry about driving if you need to head over to town to grab dinner.
Conclusion
The Lake House att Lake Placid is a solid hotel that we’d recommend to anyone visiting Lake Placid in a heartbeat. We really appreciated the building/room’s decorations and its convenient location next to the main street.
We also really liked the fact that it overlooks the lake, giving guests an incredible view straight from their bedrooms.
