The KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes promotion for flying in May 2026 has just been released!
This month, we are seeing for the first time that Scoot flights are part of the KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes promotion. If you are looking for more affordable redemption for your KrisFlyer miles, this might be the start of something new.
What is the Spontaneous Escapes?
Spontaneous Escapes is a promotion by Singapore Airlines offering award redemption rates of 30% off the standard Saver award tickets to selected destinations. The flights must be taken the following month, making it truly spontaneous!
This is usually a good opportunity to make your hard-earned KrisFlyer miles go even further. You can sometimes find amazing deals, assuming you can take off on a moment’s notice (or a month).
You have to book your flight by 30 April 2026, and fly between 1 May 2026 and 31 May 2026.
Good Deals for May 2026 – Singapore Airlines
We’ll generally try to go for longer business-class flights as compared to short economy-class flights when redeeming our miles to fully maximise their value.
With this addition of the Spontaneous Escapes, we are seeing a significant reduction in the number of routes that are available on premium cabins. This is not surprising, given the current situation around the world as well as the high demand for flights on Singapore Airlines.
I’m surprised that even premium economy got significantly reduced. This is a stark contrast from the previous edition, where most of the offers available were on premium economy.
| Route | Class | Miles (one-way) |
|---|---|---|
| Singapore to Male | Business | 31,500 |
| Male to Singapore | Business | 31,500 |
| Singapore to Cairns | Business | 50,400 |
| Cairns to Singapore | Business | 50,400 |
| Singapore to Johannesburg | Premium Economy | 36,050 |
You can check out the full list of routes at KrisFlyer’s official page.
Scoot Deals
This is the first time we are seeing Scoot flights available on spontaneous escapes.
Personally, I don’t see this as a positive change, as this is probably Singapore Airlines’ way of reducing the number of premium cabins available for customers to redeem for. However, there can be circumstances when redeeming for Scoot flights might be more beneficial for your travel needs.
Also, there are promotions for routes that will never appear for Singapore Airlines, such as to Japan. There are also high value routes such as Singapore to Koh Samui available.
Make sure to check the actual prices of the flights to make sure that you are getting a high value for your redemption.
| Route | Miles (one-way) |
|---|---|
| Singapore to Bali | 3,825 |
| Singapore to Chiang Mai | 8,925 |
| Chiang Mai to Singapore | 8,925 |
| Singapore to Koh Samui | 8,925 |
| Koh Samui to Singapore | 8,925 |
| Singapore to Haneda | 10,625 |
| Narita to Singapore | 10,625 |

What Card to Use For Fees?
When redeeming award flights, you’ll usually have to pay a small fee for taxes and tariffs. Although these typically do not go for more than S$100 for Singapore Airlines, it’ll still be good if we can optimise our spending here.
Below are some of our favourite credit cards to use to pay for taxes and fees when redeeming award flights on Singapore Airlines.
| Card | Miles Per Dollar (mpd) | Monthly Bonus Cap | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|

- All fares booked through the Spontaneous Escapes Rate are strictly non-changeable and cancellable unless cancelled by Singapore Airlines themselves. You’ll have to forfeit your ticket should you not be able to fly on the booked flight.
- You can only book the rates through Singapore Airlines’ Mobile App or website.
- You’ll need to have the full amount of miles needed in your KrisFlyer account at the time of booking. You cannot book part of the tickets with cash and part of it with miles.
