SilverKris Lounges is a network of airport lounges operated by Singapore Airlines for its premium cabin passengers. Beyond its home base in Singapore, the airline runs 10 additional SilverKris lounges worldwide, primarily in cities where it has a significant presence.
During our recent trip to Australia, we had the opportunity to visit the SilverKris Lounge in Sydney before flying back to Singapore on Singapore Airlines’ Business Class.
This visit was particularly exciting for us as it was our first time experiencing a SilverKris lounge outside of Singapore. While we knew it wouldn’t quite measure up to the renowned flagship lounge at Changi Airport’s Terminal 3, we were still eager to enjoy a little slice of home away from home.
With our flight scheduled for 6:45 a.m., we arrived very early at the airport at 4:30 a.m. to give ourselves ample time to thoroughly explore and experience the lounge offerings.
This is our full review of the SilverKris Lounge at Sydney International Airport.
General Information
The SilverKris Sydney Lounge opens from 4:30 am to 7:00 pm every day. Its early opening hours meant that it was primed to serve the first Singapore Airlines flight of the day at 6:45 am.
How do I access the SilverKris Sydney Lounge?
| Common Access Methods |
|---|
| Premium cabin (Business / First Class) passengers on Singapore Airlines flights |
| Premium cabin (Business / First Class) passengers on Star Alliance flights |
| KrisFlyer Elite Gold passengers on Star Alliance flights |
| Star Alliance Gold passengers on Star Alliance flights |
The most common way to access the SilverKris Lounge is to be a premium cabin passenger on a Star Alliance flight. In addition to that, SilverKris outpost lounges also accept Star Alliance Gold passengers flying on Star Alliance flights. This is contrary to Singapore-based SilverKris lounges that only accept premium cabin passengers.

Location
The SilverKris in Sydney is located in the International Terminal at Level 3.
Once you’ve cleared immigration at Sydney Airport, there are plenty of overhead signs that lead you to the airport lounges. The Silverkris Lounge specifically, it’s very close to Gate 59 which was where the Singapore Airline’s flight to Singapore is located.

Seats
We arrived in the lounge at around 6 am when the seats were starting to fill up even though the lounge only opened at 5:30 am. This is likely due to the fact that this is the only Star Alliance lounge open at this time. They will have to serve the premium cabin passengers who are departing early in the morning.
The lounge itself isn’t big by any means. There is a main central area with plenty of single lounge sofas.

Besides this, you can find standard tables and chairs meant for proper dining. There aren’t a lot of them and they are limited to just 2 person seating.

Near the entrance, there are a couple more lounge seats. They were not occupied even when we were leaving the lounge, probably due to the fact that they are quite a distance away from the buffet area.

There’s a bar counter with high chairs that faces the airport runway.

When it comes to charging, the lounge offers plenty of charging plugs and USB ports. We were pleasantly surprised to find that most USB ports have been upgraded to the newer USB-C ports. These tend to offer faster charging speeds which are always welcome before a flight.

Food and Beverages
Food and Beverages are a huge reason why we enjoy visiting airport lounges before our flight. There are lounges that offer a wide range of food, enough to make for a full meal before the flight. On the other hand, there are some that offer just a handful of snacks.
SilverKris Lounges has always been one of the most reliable airport lounge networks when it comes to food offerings.
As we visited in the early morning, the lounge was serving its breakfast menu.

The offerings were diverse, comprising common international breakfast items like bacon, ham, beans and pastries. There were also Asian favourites such as congee and healthier options like yoghurt and muesli.
Our favourite dish was Tomato Mushroom and Spinach which was constantly running out! I guess it was public consensus that it was the best dish served that day.

Bathroom
There is 1 bathroom that services each gender in the lounge. The bathroom is pretty small with just 1 cubicle in the male bathroom. This can be problematic given that the lounge gets crowded before flights.

Showers
For travellers on connecting flights, you’ll be pleased to learn that the SilverKris Lounge has a shower room. However, there’s also only 1 room available so you might have to wait for quite some time during peak hours.

The shower room is very spacious with a dedicated toilet in it. There’s even a baby apron for changing baby diapers.

Wifi
The Wifi in the SilverKris Lounge is one of the fastest WiFi we’ve got throughout our trip in Sydney. It was fibre optics speeds which were not all that common in Australia.
To connect to the Wifi in the lounge, you’ll look for SSID: Silverkris Lounge.
| Download Speed (Mbps) | 246 |
| Upload Speed (Mbps) | 284 |
| Ping (ms) | 4 |
With these speeds, you’ll have no issues streaming 4k videos and taking video calls. It’s great for last-minute Netflix downloads before boarding your flight.
Final Thoughts
SilverKris Lounge Sydney
Summary
The SilverKris Lounge at Sydney International Airport is a decent outpost of Singapore Airlines.
While it doesn’t quite match the standards of the flagship lounge in Changi Airport’s Terminal 3, the lounge offers the most basic amenities for a comfortable pre-flight experience for Star Alliance passengers. Its compact size can be a drawback, often feeling crowded during peak morning hours when it’s the sole lounge serving all Star Alliance flight passengers.
The food selection was more limited than we’ve experienced in other SilverKris lounges, though this could be attributed to the breakfast-time offerings during our visit.
If you’re flying out of Sydney Airport on a Singapore Airlines or Star Alliance flight, we recommend exploring the Air New Zealand lounge located right next door. It offers a more spacious and premium environment that might enhance your pre-flight experience.
