Surprisingly, they are doing it slightly earlier this month as these are typically announced closer to the middle of the month. I reckon it’s because of the upcoming National Day Holiday.
With peak summer travel season in full swing, the available routes this month aren’t all that spectacular. You have the usual West Asia destinations and a couple of Australian cities on premium economy. Unless you already had plans to visit these cities, there aren’t any deals here that would make you drop everything you’re doing and book it immediately.
What is Spontaneous Escapes?
Spontaneous Escapes is a promotion by Singapore Airlines where they’ll offer award redemption rates at 30% off the standard Saver award tickets to selected destinations. The flights have to be flown on the following month, and therefore spontaneous!
This is usually the best opportunity to make your hard-earned KrisFlyer miles go even further. You can often find amazing deals assuming you can take off on a moment’s notice (or a month).
For the spontaneous escapes promotion this month, you’ll have to fly between 1st September 2023 to 30th September 2023.
Good Deals for September 2023
These are the best deals that we think are available for the month of September 2023. We’ll generally try to go for longer business-class flights as compared to short economy-class flights when redeeming our miles.
Notably, there are a couple of good fifth freedom flight redemptions available this month.

If you’re looking for the best way to rack up that KrisFlyer miles stash for your next trip, we recommend the UOB Lady’s Card with its eye-popping 6 mpd earn rate.
Additional 5% miles-back for KrisFlyer UOB cardholders
For the month of September 2023 in particular, the first 158 UOB KrisFlyer cardmembers can get an additional 5% miles-back on the flights redeemed. With this promotion, you’ll get a total of 33.5% discount on the usual Saver Award redemption rate.
To be eligible for the promotion, you’ll have to charge the full taxes and fees of the redemption to your UOB KrisFlyer Credit Card, followed by sending an SMS to 77862 with the format: “KFSPE<space> last 4 alphanumeric digits of your NRIC<space>booking reference number“.
Successful participants will have their miles back credited by 31 December 2023.
It is so iconic of UOB to do a “first x” promotion, and I’m not surprised they are doing it here.
