As part of the 10 million KrisFlyer members promotion, Singapore Airlines just announced their latest upsized Spontaneous Escapes promotion! After teasing on their Social Media page 2 weeks ago, we have been eagerly waiting for this.
This is an upsized edition of Spontaneous Escapes as it offers a 40% discount on Saver award rates instead of the usual 30%! This is running in conjunction with the Global Redemption Sale where you can redeem Economy-class seats on all routes for 20% off.
What is the Spontaneous Escapes?
Spontaneous Escapes is a promotion by Singapore Airlines that offers award redemption rates of 30% 40% off the standard Saver award tickets to selected destinations. The flights must be flown the following month, and therefore spontaneous!
This is usually the best opportunity to make your hard-earned KrisFlyer miles go even further. You can often find amazing deals assuming you can take off on a moment’s notice (or a month).
For the spontaneous escapes promotion this month, you must book your ticket by 31st March 2025 and fly between 1st April 2025 and 30th April 2025.
Good Deals for March 2024
These are some of our top picks for the month. We’ll generally try to go for longer business-class flights as compared to short economy-class flights when redeeming our miles to fully maximise their value.
Even though it’s a special edition of Spontaneous Escapes, we find the selection of routes to be underwhelming. The standout would be the Singapore to Johannesburg route where you can redeem just 33,900 KrisFlyer miles for a business class ticket to South Africa.
Other than that, there’s only a limited selection of business class routes, and most of the better-value redemptions are on premium economy tickets.
These are some of the routes that we think are great in value.
| Route | Class | Miles (one-way) |
|---|---|---|
| Singapore to Tokyo (Narita) | Premium Economy | 22,500 |
| Singapore to Johannesburg | Premium Economy | 25,800 |
| Johannesburg to Singapore | Premium Economy | 25,800 |
| Singapore to Dubai | Premium Economy | 25,800 |
| Dubai to Singapore | Premium Economy | 25,800 |
| Singapore to Sydney | Premium Economy | 30,600 |
| Singapore to Johannesburg | Business | 33,900 |
| Johannesburg to Singapore | Business | 33,900 |
| Singapore to Cairns | Business | 41,100 |
You can check out the full list of routes at KrisFlyer’s official page.

5. Select that and go through the standard booking process.
What Card to Use For Spontaneous Escapes?
When redeeming award flights, you’ll usually have to pay a small fee for taxes and tariffs. Although these typically do not go for more than S$100 for Singapore Airlines, it’ll still be good if we can optimise our spending here.
Below are some of our favourite credit cards to use to pay for taxes and fees when redeeming award flights on Singapore Airlines.
| Card | Miles Per Dollar (mpd) | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|

- All fares booked through the Spontaneous Escapes Rate are strictly non-changeable and cancellable unless cancelled by Singapore Airlines themselves. You’ll have to forfeit your ticket should you not be able to fly on the booked flight.
- You can only book the rates through Singapore Airlines’ Mobile App or website.
- You’ll need to have the full amount of miles needed in your KrisFlyer account at the time of booking. You cannot book part of the tickets with cash and part of it with miles.
